No matter how long or how recently you have started meditating, you are not the first individual to wonder, “How do I know if I am meditating correctly?”
A powerful technique, meditation can help you experience less stress and anxiety, more balance and relaxation, and a greater sense of clarity and calmness in your life. Meditation has been shown to change how your mind functions by changing the kinds of brain wave states you encounter. According to certain research, persons who meditate tend to be better at interacting with others and handling stress. However, it’s not always clear when you start to meditate if you’re doing it correctly.
It requires consistent practice to become an expert in the fundamentals, just like anything else we wish to be exceptional at. The fundamentals of meditation can also get you a long way. Spending time on the fundamentals can reap rich dividends that last a lifetime, including improved attention, ease of being, spontaneous access to calm, joy, and other positive emotions.

You Are the Divine Watcher
Along with that stillness comes the ability to become “the observer.” Instead of identifying with your thoughts, emotions, and sensations, you will start to notice them and become detached from them. During meditation, you will notice a gap between your divine being and your physical experiences.
Stillness
To perfectly meditate, you must be still. Pay attention to how still you are during your practice. If you find yourself still, like a mountain or a peaceful tree, you are on the right track. It sounds simple, but don’t underestimate the power of stillness. Making the noble effort to be still can help you let go of your mind. When you let go of the mind, your awareness expands to the size of the sky. Being still will transform over period and with continuous practice from an external physical effort to an inner posture of quiet confidence and resolution. Maintain a relaxed and focused attitude throughout this endeavor.
Concentration without exertion
When we search a meditation method that is appropriate for our lifestyle and personality, we will notice that our concentration improves without any effort on our part. You don’t realize like you’re performing meditation at this point; rather, meditation happens on its own, without your intervention.
When your concentration becomes more effortless, you’ll know you’ve made significant progress. You overcame any attempts to control the process, and it now runs on its own. Effortless Meditation is distinguished by increased stillness, serenity, and focus.
Independence from Thought
Many people mistakenly believe that meditation entails having no thoughts and attaining a state of consciousness as calm and cool as a still blue pool. A quiet mind is certainly enjoyable, but it is not always the goal. You don’t want the success or failure of your practice to be determined by your ability to keep your mind quiet. There is no genuine freedom in that.
One of the most difficult things to grasp when you first begin meditating is the ability to slow your pace and relax in the face of all the stresses in your life.
I still find it difficult to stop thinking about certain recent events that are on my mind while meditating.
Increased Awareness
One of the things that happens during deep meditation is that you become more aware. As a result, you are more sensitive to environmental stimuli such as sounds, smells, and so on. As you enter this expanded state of awareness, the boundaries between you and everything else begin to dissolve.
Hearing your heartbeat or breathing louder than usual. You may have noticed the sound of your heart beating in your chest.
Becoming aware of feelings in parts of your body you were previously unaware of. Such as minor muscle spasms or the circulation of blood throughout your body.
Liberation from Time
Meditation, according to yogis and mystics, is a timeless state of consciousness. They claim that when we meditate, we become aware of eternity and our perception of time and space expands infinitely.
When we practice true meditation, time appears to slow down. Our perception of reality is less clouded, and this clarity allows us to appreciate every moment apart from the constraints of time.
Take solace in the fact that if you are losing track of time while meditating, you are definitely on the right track. This is known as timelessness, and it is another natural quality or component of deep meditation.
